About the Campaign
On June 7, 2018, our Arabian family lost one of its strongest advocates with the passing of Dee Frey, longtime Rochester, NY native and Arabian horse owner and afficiando. Dee was much loved throughout the North East and mid west, and showed horses with her daughter Gretchen for many years, before going on to own and show her own horses after Gretchen grew up. There was literally no horse show you could go to from Ohio east where Dee was not well-known and loved for her ready smile and warmth.
Dee was married for 65 years to Marine Corp Col. (retired) Frank Frey. and until his retirement from the corp raised their four children and was a service wife. Upon his retirement, she began her own career in the mortgage business, helping many young families find their way to purchasing their own homes.
Her greatest trait, however, was her love of life and of all people who loved the Arabian horses. The memory of her ready smile, memorable hugs and kisses, and constantly positive outlook on life will remain long after her passing, and our world is a better place for her having been in it. Memorial donations in Dee’s memory will be earmarked for use in the general funding of the AHDF to go forward and help others, as she always did throughout her life.
Love ya, Dee–you take care now. You are missed.
