On March 20th, 2018, Carissa Haigh had a horse-related accident resulting in a skull fracture
and severe brain trauma. This talented young lady, born and raised in the Arabian Horse
Community, has always been very involved in showing both Arabian and Half-Arabian horses.
Carissa is the assistant trainer to Shan Wilson at Chrishan Park Arabians in Springfield,
Carissa remains hospitalized at Mercy Hospital in Springfield, and with each day she shows
positive signs of improvement after being transferred out of the ICU. Carissa has been raised to
be a strong, determined, and independent woman which will help in her long road to recovery.
She will remain hospitalized for some time and then will go to a rehab facility to continue with
her recovery. She is surrounded by loving family members and many concerned and supportive
friends, including a large body of the Arabian horse Community, and alongside Chrishan Park.
